California and New York both have decent reputations. So does Michigan, and, to a lesser extent, Ohio.

Connecticut has a very aggressive Labor Department and is very pro-employee (in terms of employees' rights).

I would suggest moving out of the states to Denmark 50 percent of all its employees are "Very Satisfied" with there job.
