Have the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter books written by Laurell K Hamilton gone too far with all its sexually explicit detail or do the books keep their horror mystery edge?

I just finished Danse Macabre. There was less sex than I expected - not as much as some of the others. However, there was absolutely no mystery to be solved. And not even a peep of a plot.

The book was nothing more than sex and character development. It was interesting character development, but holy crap! Did it have to take that long? It was like reading an episode of Days of our Lives. You know, the conversations that go on for weeks, with nothing being resolved.....

I did enjoy it; I do enjoy the sex in her books; I will keep reading. But I do understand why the fans are getting disgusted.

I believe the Anita Blake series has gone too far. I expected the sexually explicit detail in the Merry Gentry books. Anita Blake, in the beginning was a bit on the prudish side and now LKH has lost the true Anita...the one where her job was was important.

mostly yes. it took me forever to read DM. if i wanted to read erotica i'd buy an erotic romance, i had to keep putting it down. i was just dumb founded. there was no plot! the only time it was interesting was the very begining(learning about mere-people) and the very end(asher). i kept asking the book "where did anita go?"

Um - I think the answer is obvious. However, with a world full of people with time on there hands there is still a market for this type of "book".

I think they have gone too far. Lately it seems the plots and the characters no longer matter, it's all sex, sex, and more sex.
