Now consider that this quote was written during a different time. The bible also says in Leviticus that a man should not cut the hair on side of his head & to not trim your beard (like the Orthodox Jews do with their curls on the sides of their heads & the long beards) but you don't see modern day devout Christians walking around doing that do you? No, of course not.

It does say this...but that does not mean it is cause for divorce...there is Christian Counseling...the sacrament of marriage is a gift from God...your JOB is to make the best
of your marriage...the Boss is God...your example is Jesus.
The Bible tells men to love their wives on three accounts!
The Bible also tells you not to let the sun go down before you settle an argument...that means to work it out and make up all night and enjoy your wife. Sometimes stress from inside and outside the home causes hostility, where there once was none.
Sometimes it is as simple as a food allergy or a monthly cycle,
sometimes it is just an extra effort needed to support the other
with loving words when they are disgruntled. Words can kill the will of the Spirit.....The tongue is like a two edged sword....Be careful how ye jest...many things take place when one is angry.
Things are done and said in the heat of the moment that are completely irrelevant to what is real! Forgiveness and kindness will bring you closer together. Yes it is true it is said in Proverbs
it is better to sit on the roof than to dwell in a house with a contentious wife...but all the things in the Bible are true...Practice
more of the word...and remember your Job is to make this marriage work...get outside help if you need to...but make it work!

Well, if you're posting about it, I'd say it's bad enough! :)
If you have kids, I'm a Dr. Philite and think that you need to earn your way out of a marriage with the help of *good* professional counselors.
Letting your wife really know how you feel is definitely a good start. If you've tried that and it's not working, do what you need to do for *you*. There's a great book called Love & Respect that you might want to check out and see if she'll read, too. Good luck!

This is just biblical justification for men to ignore their wives. What is it that can make a wife contentious? hmmm...Lack of respect and consideration, failure to take care of needs, looking at other women, viewing porn, having emotional affair on the internet, leaving her for sports, not helping with kids, not intervening when mothernlaw meddles, staying out all nite every nite w/the guys, drinking too much,......
What degree of contentiousness for these actions would be acceptable to you?

Sneakyflyke doesn't understand the culture at the time. If you think it is better to remove yourself before real trouble begins....it is best to step back...or go to the roof (which is where they sleep at night to keep cool and safe.

That simply means you should get the hell out of her sight for a while so she can gather her thoughts and try to remember why she loves you.
