bluetooth is a wireless headset, usually an earpiece that is companion to your mobile phone.

your phone must be bluetooth capable, and they have to bond(it's tells you how in the owner's manual).

the pros: no wires from phone to ear.
can walk away from your phone(about 15 ft or so) and still have signal.

the cons: it runs on a battery just like your phone so you have 2 things to charge instead of one.
looks like you're talking to yourself(this could be a good thing!!)
the most annoying is when my bluetooth forgets it knows the phone and you have to rebond. shut phone off, sometimes remove battery, etc.

all in all, i have bluetooth, when i upgraded phone, old bluetooth worked on new phone, and i like it. i charge them both everynight, so i have fresh everyday.

bluetooth will run you about $40-80.
personally, i tried blue parrot, it didn't like my phone(a palm treo) and wouldn't bond with it. the parrot is an over the head headset with earpiece and mic boom and runs about $175. spendy little gadgets!!!

hope this helps some, i wondered for a while too- what the heck is bluetooth?? all i kept thinking was that stupid blue art dog!!!

they also make a bluetooth connection for your pc so your pc and phone can communicate. i have one, but i always have to ask my husband how to work it, it just plugs into one of the ports like your webcam.

Ahhh, let's see. If you drink a mixture of Vodka and Midori, your teeth are BLUE. If you are from Kentucky, you only have one tooth, so they call it Bluetooth.

OK, we are done with the humor thing.

Bluetooth is a short haul wireless device connection. It's used by cell phone to talk to ear pieces. It is used by some mouse and keyboard connections to computers. Countless other devices will use Bluetooth technology to make data available to computers or other computer-like devices like Palm Pilots, Blackberry and such.

It is a means for devices to communicate with each other using radio frequencies, so they don't need cables connecting them together. They just need to be within range.
