My boss brings in this large cup with what appears to be cola but someone said they saw him at the local minute market and he was doctoring his drink. Also, he is the company controller but acts as if he has no knowledge of accounting. He also says nasty things to me and the A/R clerk, but apologizes later for it. We think he is a drinker. He also never does his own research or puts his name on anything, he makes me do it. I think he is a drunk and needs to go but the CEO is up his ***. What should I do? I am looking for another job.

Do you have an ethics hotline? By coming to work drunk he's acting unethical. If you have some sort of ethics program I'd alert them to the situation. Also, can you smell liquor on him? If you can't, then you can't assume he's drunk just because he's rude. It might be that he's just a plain old douche bag. A lot of bosses are like that. Talk to someone else in your organization like an HR rep or another manager. Let them know he's acting rude. They might investigate it further. Good luck!

I would leave immediatley! I would not work for a boss, who drinks alcoholic beverages. ANd whether he is the boss or not, he should not be drinking at all. You do not need to all of his work. He needs to do his own work.
