Yeah, that would be a monthly bill from your gas company. If you think they are cheating you - there is a meter already somewhere on your house that suppose to show how much you've used. Call your gas company and ask them where it's located.

if it because your sepnding too much i think you can get a gas card meter. like a pay as you go mobile, you just put credit on the card and put the card in your meter! never in debt with your gas company, you are in total control of how much gas you are using (well spending and you pay upfront.

just make a spreadsheet or database and type in everytime you spend money... the nyou'll know

you'll have to contact your gas company and they will install one or give you info.

Natural gas? Look at you bill, it shows how much gas was used in the previous month to heat you house. The unit used to measure your gas usage is called a therm. A therm is the equivalent of 100,000 BTU's (British thermal Units).

If you use Natural Gas, There's already a meter outside your house that measures how much gas you use. The gas company uses it to determine your bill each month. You can learn how to read it yourself.

If you use propane (LP), you can purchase a relatively inexpensive inline meter to monitor your own usage. A quick search found them for sale at ebay:

You can get a Smart Meter but I have no idea how they work. I'm currently waiting for some info to come through for an environmental project at work though so it should become clearer soon.

Its called a gas meter, every house that uses gas has one.

You just look at the dials and convert the BTU's or kilowatts used into pounds and that is what it is costing you. If you have trouble understanding it contact your supplier and they will explain it to you.

Yes it's called a gas meter... work out how many units you have used and multiply by the unit cost on your bill.

Do you mean that you want to measure the amount of gas used by your heating boiler or heating circuit pipework separately from cooking (and hot water) ??
