Three ethical obligations of a defense attorney are: 1. To defend his/her client with zealousness, 2 To do so without regard to guilt or innocense, and finally, 3. To keep all conversations and correspondance completely privleged, in other words, private between the attorney and client. Fourthly to do all of the above with all seriousness and intensity as the attorney is responsible for the future of his/her client. When a person is charged with a crime, nobody can stand with that individual except his/her attorney. Often the community and even the family will distance itself from an accused, regardless of guilt or innocnese. Jobs are lost and lives ruined. At the least, the cost of defending oneself will bankrupt most citizens. As the cost is so high, both monitarily and personal, an attorney who fails in any of the above should be disbarred and never allowed to practice law again. While mistakes occur as we are all only human, and attorney must always be conscience that his/her mistakes will cost another human his/her freedom at the least and life at worst.
Three ethical obligations of a prosocuting attorney is: 1. To ensure the person s/he is prosocuting is indeed the individual who committed the crime. 2. To uphold the constitutional rights of the person being prosocuted at all times, 3. To work within the framework of law, to not allow for curruption to influance behaviors, and finally, 4. To treat all equal under the law, to not avoid prosecution of those wealthy and/or powerful just because they have wealth and power. If any of these areas is not upheld, individual's lives are ruined if not lost. If justice is truly to be served a prosecuting attorney must ensure the law prevails and evidence, real physical and eye witness evidence is used, not circumstantial evidence alone. A prosocuting attorney has a moral obliation to hold none above the law, and to always remember the person prosecuted is a human being and as such has basic human rights which must never be forgotten.
Both types of attorneys have huge moral obligations and responsibilities. Those who work in this field have the capasity to truly work for justice or to subvert justice. Both must remember that lives and futures are at stake, not just wins and losses of a personal nature. All too often our prosecuting attorney's forget they are playing with lives and not just working to streangthen their careers or their own futures. While many criminals need to be held away from society where they can do no harm to the innocents, we must always remember that prison is a brutal place and sending an innocent person will change them forever. Even sending a non-violent offender into a violent prison enviroment can alter their very nature and create a violent individual, one who will eventually walk out those doors and re-enter our society. So, both individuals must take great care and caution in doing their duty. Allow justice, true justice to prevail, not just attempt to win a case. Even a defense attorney must live with the fact his/her work can release a violent individual back into society. If this occurres the consequences of that individual's actions is partially a responsibility of those failing to uphold justice.
Thank you for this question, it is vital our society understand these types of issues. When we take an oath, we must do all in our power to uphold that oath, to carry out our oath as it reflects our inner integrity and morals. If we fail in our oaths we fail ourselves, our family, and our society. Take oaths seriously and if we find we are incapable of carrying out the sipulations, then do not take the oath.

Defense Attorney:
1- defend anyone, no matter how guilty they are
2- wear cheap suits, because you get paid so little
3- eventually move up from defending poor guilty people to rich ones
Prosecutor:
1- go for a conviction, even if the person is probably innocent
2- wear slightly less cheap suits than the defense attorney
3- eventually go into politics so that you are even less ethically bound than you were as an attorney
