I don't see why they shouldn't be active in politics. I do however feel that their political life should be seperate from their religious life. By that I mean as a politician, they should be looking out for what's best for all of their constituants... not just the christian ones. Laws should not be made to 'force' people into following a religion they don't believe in.

In this, the USA, this government, was founded by and for God fearing men. The separation of church and state was never meant to mean a separation of God and this country. It was meant as a separation between one sect of religion and the ruling body of this government so it could not turn into another Christian monarchy like what they had fled. Not only should Christians of all sects be an active part in politics in this country, but it should be understood that non believers and non Christians, although welcome in this country, have no rights to interfere in the Christian beliefs on which this country was founded!

I guess my question would be: why shouldn't they be? Politics is an important aspect of our lives. It involves the direction our country will take if specific choices are made. It would be silly to sit back and watch one's country take a down slide by not contributing to politics in a meaningful way for any reason whatsoever---including religion.

They shouldn't be anymore active than any other religion. Or any other sect for that matter. Whats going on is that people are mistaking faith for leadership. You dont see any other religion in this country rattling sabers to repent or burn in hell. You dont see any other religion shoving their beliefs down our throats. You dont see any other religions building churches like gas stations on every street corner. With government money I might add thanks to Mr Bush and his "faith based initiative". But they still dont have to pay any taxes. That's my tax dollar and I dont believe in funding any other church but my own. You cant have your cake and eat it too. If you want federal monies, you need to pay taxes like the rest of us. There's a reason why other religions dont take advantage of that tax money, they're not all about money or revenge. They believe in peace, love, and compassion. The bill was passed to appease the Christian Rights vote, a thank you for their support and no one else. You dint see Jews, Catholics, Protestants, Episcopalians, or any other religion rejoicing in his presidency. I hope they realize that their new found money is tainted with blood. Because while you enjoy your new church, our sons and daughters are fighting a war that had you not voted for Mr Bush, wouldn't be happening. That is why all religions should be active in politics to maintain a balance of thought and wisdom.

The same reason as every other demographic should be. Because it is both the privilege and the responsibility of all citizens to participate in the maintenance of this republic. If we do not, it will quickly go away.

Christians should be active in religion. Anything else is taking time away from worship.

God not only calls us to Prayer, He calls us to action. He has said the meek shall inherit the Earth.
If our voice is not heard in the Voting Booth then it should not be heard at all.

I can not think of a single good reason why they should not be. And I'm an agnostic.
