Whether they are given pills or not would be a classified information.
But for discussion purpose let analyze.
1. Thousands of people are dying to get a chance to go to space and lucky few among them are selected. So basically its a voluntary participation. When its voluntary, all those folks are very brave and do not care about death.
2. If I was the chief of NASA and i gave a suicide-pill to the astronaut, the astronaut might think that i am not sure of the rocket that we have created.....
So based on the both the data given above, i strongly believe that suicide-pills would not be given.

I would say more likely that they were not given any pills. So far, any astronauts that have met with problems have either made repairs and got back to earth or perished due to the rocket exploding. They really wouldn't be classified as needing suicide pills, unless of course there are evil aliens waiting out there to probe their brains in an effort to find out the secrets of the universe!! LOL.

All indications are that this is not true. NASA and its astronauts have repeatedly denied this common legend ever since the very first missions in the 1960's. If the suicide pills are real, then it is a well kept secret, as there is no evidence whatsoever that they exist.
A number of Hollywood movies have helped to propagate this myth.

Not to worry....you've been watching way too many Spy vs. Spy movies.
The astronauts are fully prepared for their flights and any problems or concerns that might arise can either be fixed on the site in space or by the extensive crew of engineers from the ground.

I have watched "Apollo 13" movie staring Tom Hanks. So far (at least in the movie), I didn't see the astronauts prepare suicide pills when Apollo 13 is in trouble. Indeed, they try bravely to fix the problem and eventually return to earth safely.
