I asked a similar question before, but i'm just looking for your past or present experiences regarding online courses. I'm seriously thinking about taking them full time next semester but would like some feedback on how they work with you. Thanks!

I am presently taking an online class (my 2nd online class). I have a full course load (17 units) at the main campus of my school during the day and I watch my 17 month old niece in the evenings when my sister is working.
Online classes provide flexibility (at least mine does). My online class has homework due every Wednesday & Sunday evening. The homework is usually making message board posts about the text book for the class or writing a summary of an article the professor has posted to the class website. It does not require you visit the class website everyday or stay on the website for a set number of ours and chat with your digital classmates. As long as you visit the site to find out what homework you have, complete it, and turn it in to your professor, you will be fine. I have found the best way to get my studying done is when my niece is sleeping (she goes to bed at 7pm) and if I have to read, since she enjoys books, I read her my text books in an animated voice... so everything works out just perfect!

YES! You can do it! I work full time, have a 16 month old and am taking online college courses. It sounds like a lot, but it really isn't. It is totally worth it in that you aren't as stressed out, enabling you to be more motivated to spend time w/ the baby, be a loving wife/partner and get other things done you didn't think you could. There are deadlines w/ online courses but you still can access it anywhere at anytime at your convenience... Go For it! It works for me! i just recieved an Associates in business and am working on my Bachelors in Engineering......You Can Do It!

Despite you being home, you should have someone watching your 1 yr old while online for the class, just so you can put your full attention in to it. Online classes can be difficult per my sister in law. Im going to school for my masters as well, but dont do the online courses because I know I would be interrupted.

Please, please, please take your classes through the distance education program of a state university, not through a for-profit online business calling itself a "virtual university."

I have encountered so many students who are dealing with the terrible consequences of having taken classes online. They learn too late that the classes they passed and paid for are not transferable to any decent school. These students are, of course, still stuck with the debt they incurred while taking these useless classes.

More and more state universities now offer distance education.
Here is a list of regional accreditation associations. If the program you are considering is not accredited by one of these bodies, you should look elsewhere.

Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
New England Association of Schools and Colleges
North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges
Western Association of Schools and Colleges
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
