Well, there are different schools of thought about this, but your doctor should be able to tell you what is on "the chart" the same way they tell you about where your baby's weight and height measure up to the "average". Generally, you can exect a baby to at least try walking between 9 and 12 months (some earlier some later), and they usually start babbling long before that.
The general rule of thumb is that each child has his/her own developmental path. Don't start comparing your baby to other babies or whatever the so-called "average" is. If you're ever concerned about your child's development, talk to your doctor.
(I hate it when parents compare their kids... not saying you're doing that)

All 3 of mine walked by 8 months. THe oldest didnt talk until he was like 15 months and even then had to be encouraged. He just pointed and whined. He made up for it his teenage years tho. THe middle one started talking about 9 months and the youngest has not shut his mouth since he learned he could form words at about 7 months. Basically hes been cussing like a sailor ever since. He's sixteen now. We all wish he would be quiet. lol. Especially the teachers. They put him in the hall and he talks to himself out there! any way . no normal age. Just whenever they are ready.

Some babies learn a couple words or sounds at around 8 months, most have some what of a vocabulary and can copy words at about 12-14 months. Longer for boys.
Walking is anywhere between 12-16 months.

My son is 14 months old. He walked at 10 months and can say simple words, but mostly grunts. I have a friend and our babies are 2 weeks apart. Her daughter speaks quite well but only started to walk a month ago. My daughter who is now 3 started talking at 9 months, walked at 10 months, and potty trained at 18 months (her choice - yikes). But my oldest boy didn't potty train until he was almost 4. So it definitely varies. Don't stress, kids will do what they want when they're ready. Besides, they're easier to handle before they walk - believe me! And my 3 year old is a chatter box and is only quiet when she's sleeping.
