Israel got the bomb back in the 1970's with a bit of help from France, south Africa and the USA.

The South African connection comes from the fact that both county's spent years as social outcasts in the international community... so they pooled their resources. (like in the Field of army weaponry... the GALI rifle is a copy of the S.African equivalent, the Gabriel anti ship missile is also used by southafrica under a different name... since the end of white rule in SA the link between the two has broken)

The Current Israel Nuclear program is one of the worlds best kept secrets... they have a probable stockpile of twenty five to fifty small tac. nukes in the 25- 250 kiloton range. As for the big boys? I would be very surprised if they didn't have a couple of 1 megaton crowd please'ers (gravity bomb format rather then missile), one for Terhan and one for demascus.

How advanced is the US nuclear power? Same answer since Israel has all of our nuclear capabilities if not more. What is not openly given to Israel is stolen via the numerous Mossad agents in this country that work for our government as well as the Israeli government. These people were well hidden until recently when their actions were brought public by their careless mistakes and the AIPAC scandal.

Morey is probably closest to right. We believe they have a few dozen warheads. The Israeli term for using them is the Samson Option. Essentially if they see they are going to be completely overrun and destroyed, they will launch to take down as many as they can with them. (The way Samson did in the Old Testament story.)

they have had nuclear weapons since the 1970's. And have them on missiles.

They probably don't have a huge stash. Maybe a few dozen. All they need for a deterrence. While they've never publicly admitted it. They've don't deny it. Nor do they threaten any of their neighbors with them.

I think they exist as a last ditch deterrent for their survival.

Very advanced. Less than the US, France, Britain, Russia, much more than India and Pakistan, probably more than China.
