Depends on where most guys you are referring to are. If you are asian, or native american, for example, you probably won't have any or very little noticeable hair. If you are of european stock, you could be either hairy or not. As someone mentioned, it is your genetics. I have a friend who has maybe 4 chest hairs, but he did not know who his father's family was until in his 20's; found out his grandmother was native american.
You also could just be later developing. I remember when I was a senior, only about 3-4 of us out of 15 or so guys had any real chest hair--most were developing treasure trails up to the naval, and a couple didn't even have that although they did have full pubic and armpit hair.

I started getting chest hair when I was a teenager. It started to grow on my back and shoulders as well. Now I am 31 and I am having it all lasered off. It looks really bad because I am somewhat skinny and the hair is dark and straight instead of curly.

I have heard that the more hair a man has on his chest the more testosterone a guy has. I get really horney so I would have to say that it is true. Anyone else agree or am I wrong on that issue?

Also, my dad has chest hairs but not anywhere near what I have and my 8 year younger brother has about 70% as much as I do.

Anywhere from 12-20 really; it's kind of like beards. Really depends on your genetics. Some guys will have a forest before they hit 15, other guys will just get a few sometime before they finish high school. Comparing yourself to the mythical 'average' guy is pretty much a waste of time. You are who you are, most definitely not him. Besides, I've heard he's a tool.

No not all guys will grow chest hair! but lots of women love a smooth chest! Lots of men with hairy chests pay a fortune getting it waxed off at least you wont have that problem!

I am actually one of the unhairiest blokes I know.
I am 36 and only have about 20 chest hairs. They seem to appear at the rate of about 1 a year.
I have 4 hairs round each nipple and when I wear shorts people ask me whether I shave my legs (which I don't.)
In contrast one of my best mates is the hairiest person I've ever seen. He has a complex about taking off his shirt because his back and his chest (and his whole body really), look like something out of 'the planet of the apes". We call him Chimera (half man, half ape).
However I do not have a complex about my lack of body hair and I thoroughly enjoy a good sunbathe.
So maybe you should thank god you are NOT a hairy ape.

This has alot to do with genetics, look at your dad and other male relatives and see if there's a chnce for you. I remember I had only a small amount in my teen years, I was curious and shave it and now I have a bit more. I learned my lesson.

No. Get over it. You must've noticed from watching films/TV/videos that a lot of men have no or hardly any chest hair
