True contractions initially feel like menstual cramps- but may also occur in the lower back. Braxton-Hicks contractions, "false labor" are usually not painful or just mildly uncomfortable and you can feel tightening and relaxing in your lower abdomen. These are irregular and will go away with activity, such as walking. True contractions will not go away, are usually regular, and will usually intensify with activity or walking. Don't worry, you will know when true labor starts. I can remember worrying about the same thing with my first pregnancy. Really nothing new as far as taking care of yourself during the 8th month. Follow the same guidelines as you have for the initial months. Except if you plan on breast feeding- then you should try to toughen up your nipples as preparation, or the will get sore- take a dry washcloth and rub briskly several times a day. The only other thing is you are usually much more clumsy at this point, so take extra care not to fall, and make sure you get plenty of rest. Walking is really good for you at this point as it helps to loosen the ligaments in the pelvis, which makes for an easier delivery.

Contractions are tricky. Fake ones tighten your belly up a bit, and don't last long, but Real ones tend to tighten AND come along with cramping (like a menstrual cramp). In either situation, I would go sit or lie down and relax. If you're still and relaxed, it will be easier to determine whether they are real or not. I tried to be a trooper my 8th month, and take care of kids, house, supper, etc. But if I had it to do again, I would take everyones advice and TAKE IT EASY......REST ALL YOU CAN. I went into labor a month early, I feel because I overdid it. So relax, and enjoy. Good luck

As for you 8th month of pregnancy you do nothing different than what you have been doing up to now. will probably need alot more rest.. do what you doctor has told you to do.. just continue as you have been..
good luck and congrats on the up coming birth.

Contractions are a strong tightening feeling through your abdomen. The early ones for labor are hard to tell, but they are very noticable as you enter transition labor. During your 8th month take it easy but keep in shape, if you are out of shape labor willbe long and hard! Good luck!

hi i am a doctor and also had my son 5 months ago, so labour pain is still quite fresh in my mind.a contraction shall initially feel like tightening of ur belly, and possibly a low back ache.as it progresses, the pain gets much stronger in intensity and it comes more frequently.the back ache also gets stronger.when u r in labour its really helpful to keep all ur muscles relaxed, it really helps to ease the pain.
during ur 8th month, just chill out and enjoy time with ur partner- once the baby arrives, u'll find that u just don't have time for urself anymore.

Just dont get over tired, or over heated. You should take care to stay active.

you can have contractions at anytime in your pregnancy, they feel like pressure across your belly that makes you want to bear down like pooping.

Real contractions are intense, sometimes painful, start in your back and work around to your entire belly, and cause you to have to fight the urge to push. They become close together and dont relent for atleast an hour when its time to call or head for the hospital.

contractions vary in locality and intensity through out the whole labor experience but after you hold your baby in your arms you tend to forget what it felt like the joy of holding your child will overshadow all they pain but when they start they tend to feel like sever menstral cramps either in your lower back or lower stomach that come and go in intensity as labor progresses it does get painful but as I said befor when you hold your baby it is all worth it What the doctors and older women advised me when I got in my last trimester was to excersize I don't mean situps but walking don't get over heated and don't work yourself to death but keeping your stomach some what firm does help in the delivery process drink plenty of fluids and watch your salt intake fruits and veggies are best and try to stay off the sweets oh and take nice long bubble baths now lol you wont have much time for them for the next 18 yrs or so good luck you can do this

Just have complete rest, don't do any slightly hard work. Keep extra care of yourself. Baby must not be born in this 8th month. Keep praying... Don't eat heavily. Eat NOT greasy food. Avoid junk food. You must not have constipation...or loose motions... Hence, eat carefully under proper guidance of your doctor...

as long as they are not too strong or time able, and they subside after a while they are bryston hicks contractions, they can come, and go during pregnancy.they are nothing to worry about. Walking should actually make them go away. you should mention it to your doctor next time you go.Good luck
