That would be your sound card...you cannot download this. Check Device Manager (Right click on My Computer and go to Properties, then the Hardware tab then Device Manager button)...see if anything has a mark beside it. You can try reinstalling the drivers for it or if it is disabled, try enabling it. It's also possible that it has gone bad...you will need to buy a new one.

Sounds more like a hardware problem.
First goto control panel and disable (do not delete) your sound card. reboot and if windows does not see it as a new device, re-seat the card and try again. If after you re-seat sound card and windows still does not see it, replace it.
However, If windows does reload sound card and you do not have the original driver for it, use the Microsoft sound system driver, it should do the trick for you. You could google the sound card model number and find a driver too.

you can get this at http://www.driverguide.com be model specific. If you need to know that info, go to the manufacturer's website and find the specifications of your pc. Email me for further assistance. Or going to Properties of My Computer, and device manager... That might tell you the type of soundcard to search for drivers for.

if you have the sound card driver disk put it in a reinstall it.
if not go to start(xp) click it ,then to control panel click it,then the system icon click it, goto device manager click it,now goto sound click it find your sound card right click on it choose update driver and it should find a new driver.

turn on your sound device, I'm sure you got one! maybe it's on mute now, I had that problem too with the sound going on and off when I had my E-machine computer! you can email me if you still can't get it...
