I am currently with Cricket. we have 2 phones under this account. I would like to break out these 2 into separate accounts.

You can't without breaking the contract. If the number is listed on his account it belongs to him, not you so all you can do is get a new number or stick it out until the contract is up.

Have the owner of that account call Cricket and ask that your phone# be separated from the account and placed under your name. I suppose the original account's contract timer might be reset, and your new account might be a clone of the old account, but that's probably the worst of it.

I am not familiar with Cricket - however I work for Nextel and you can call into our Care department and do a change of responsibility - very easy process as long as both of you agree - I would try that.
