Pro-wrestling is basically a soap opera for men. Silly caricatures of people with even sillier plot lines that culminate in something that men like very much--whoopin' butt.
Soap operas for girls are the same except that the plot lines usually culminate in betrayal--which is the female form of whoopin' butt.
The fact that wrestling is fake is therefore no more of a deterrent to watching for men than is the reality for women that soap operas are fake. The ridiculously unrealistic drama is, of course, part of the thrill.

What the general public that doesn't watch pro wrestling doesn't often realize is that the fans *know* the outcomes are prearranged. Pro wrestling fans appreciate the "sport" on multiple levels--the physical skills and talents of the wrestlers, their acting ability and charisma when on the microphone, and the ability of the writers to come up with entertaining and creative storylines as well as deal with things that may happen along the way in real life (e.g. a wrestler being legitimately injured and unable to work, or a wrestler quitting or getting fired by the company). Yes, it's not Shakespeare, but it's pretty much what Shakespeare was back in his day--amusing fodder for the masses, a good time where good guys are cheered on and bad guys are booed. The storylines are simpler, but the profession itself and the way that its fans appreciate it is actually far more complex and sophisticated than most television shows.

To ask what the appeal of Pro Wrestling is would be the same of any sport I think. Why watch any of it?! The plain fact of the matter is that it's entertainment. People all have different levels of sophistication and are thus captivated by all manner of different things. I can't watch Golf, bowling or Nascar on TV but some people can and will justify it as a sport even when the "athletes" don't look anything like a "typical" athlete. Something to think about....

I have no idea. Only people with the IQ of a small child are entertained by such crap! I think when I meet new people, I am going to ask them if they like pro wrestling. If the answer is yes, I will steer clear of them. LOL!

i assume that for the older followers the wrestling is greater beautiful, & for the greater youthful followers its the storylines(i ought to desire to be incorrect, yet it extremely is in basic terms my assumption). For me, its the two. i like to show screen a brilliant wrestling tournament(like the Triple danger tournament on SD very final week, now THAT grew to grow to be suited right into a brilliant tournament) yet I additionally desire to make valuable a brilliant storyline cos its relaxing to show screen super wrestlers & solid storylines keep me fascinated each week. If the wrestling is undesirable although the storyline on the lower back of it remains solid, then i will although have an activity & vice versa

It's just like watching a soap. We know the story lines are predictable, but you watch anyway. The same goes for wrestling. Plus it has it's sex appeal: Scantly clad women and muscular sweaty men.

Its entertainment. People (or most) know its pre-determined and view it as entertainment. Just like lonely women live and die by Oprah and The View. I don't get the attraction there either.
Also, don't be so sure that boxing isn't pre-arranged!
