The Iranian president is a little given to exaggeration but he was on target this time. I was interested in this too so I went and dug up some facts. Wow!!! What I find interesting is how many more lives were lost to the allied forces as compared to the axis.

Sorry to say that is not the total number-there were a lot of bodies that were never found and thus unaccounted for. That would also apply to any war-great or small.
History books sometimes refer to military or civilian deaths not total amounts of all deaths.
It is almost impossible to get an exact count due to where and how people live in a war zone.

If you have never heard anyone saying this fact before, then thank God for the Iranian president! Yes, 60 million people died in WW2, NOT ONLY Jews. They ether died in the battlefield, or were massacred by the Nazis, or died in concentration and death camps. I am a Jew who is disgusted by Jews hijacking the Holocaust. I am also disgusted by Philip Cohen's lies, which are popular in the USA, about "only tens of thousands" Serbs who were butchered in WW2, whereas the truth is that around a million Serbs were butchered in that war.

Actually his number may have been well under stated! In war it is almost impossible to tell how many are killed b/c records are not very important and not kept current. You are in a war, after all! It's confusing at best. The history books you refer to have always been suspect in my mind. I believe the "facts and figures" tend to be slanted for one reason or another to meet someones personal agenda. With modern communications and technology it is rapidly becoming very difficult to manufacture a "fact" to your benefit, to lie. You will eventually, more likely than not, be betrayed by those very facts.

His estimate of 60 million is about right. Approximately one in twenty Americans that actually saw combat, died. One in seven Russian soldiers died. That is why Russians (former Soviet Union) are probably the most emotional about that war. WWII was the most horrendous act that mankind has ever perpetrated upon itself, bar none!

Military deaths were over 24m and civilian death were over 38m. The Soviet Union incurred about a third of the total deaths. Many of the civilian deaths attributed to the war had to due with starvation and disease due to the circumstances surrounding the war.
In comparision, when you learn about the numbers of people to died on both sides in that war, the US government is certainly taking extraordinary measures to reduce military and civilian casualties in current conflicts.

Six million Jews murdered in the concentration camps, etc. Fifty million dead soldiers and civilians. Add in the non-Jews who were also murdered by the Nazi's and the Japanese and 60 million is just about right.

Yes that's right...
I don't know what you learned in high school in your country but that's true. The exact number of dead is not possible to be known because during all wars there is nothing like agency that keep the score...World War 2 started 1939 with the invasion of Germany in the Poland and within 1month the have conquered all Poland then Great Britain and France declared war to Germany and Italy to prevent Hitler to take over all the world including USA...
The first 3 years of the war Germany was winning in all Europe...
They started the extermination of minorities and other!
IN Greece they had to deal with a resistance tougher than they expected...
The war was lost for Germans when they tried to defeat Russia and they have manage to achieve it if they haven't lost all summer to take over Create and when they turn to Russia(former Allie of Germany during the first 2 years of the war) winter defeated them and forced them to withdraw...
Then USA entered war and ended with annihilating Xirosima and Nagasaki with nuclear bombs...
Then the American declared themselves rulers of the world and they have the only right to destroy the world with the help of Israel.
