Is there any way to stop a garnashement, that is already in progress?

Pay the full balance remaining. As long as you still have the debt which you failed to pay, they will continue to take some out of your paycheck. You tried to get out of paying your just debts, and they are not going to accept any further risk until they gat that last penny you tried to avoid paying them.
