I have monster cramps that would put me in bed for three days, and I have found that ibuprofen (Midol or Advil) works best for me. My cramps would laugh at a heating pad and a cup of herbal tea and then kick their butts. I was given prescription strength ibuprofen, but just take more over the counter to equal the prescription dose (600-800 mg). The drawback is that ibuprofen is really hard on your stomach, so always make sure you take it with food or milk, and I only take it during my period and use Tylenol if I need pain relief any other time.

Wow, there are TONS! But, from personal experience, I find that Excedrin works really well with my body chemistry. If you would prefer something more natural AND healthy, try crunches or sit-ups! When I'm trying to get some rest, and don't want caffeine in my body so late at night, I do about 20 crunches every 10 minutes...for about an hour.

Your Abs will love you for it, and the cramps should subside.

Try everything people suggest, and narrow it down to what works for YOU!

:-)

Heating pads can offer temporary resolve of the pain. Avoidance of smoking (which has been shown increase cramps) and reduced intake or total avoidance of salt, sugar, high fat and dairy products, alcohol and caffeine can also afford relief, as can increasing the intake of fiber, calcium and complex carbohydrates. Recent studies also indicate that Vitamin B6 complex, calcium and magnesium supplements, and Omega III fatty acids (fish oil supplements) also may help relieve cramping. Pelvic massage, exercise (which releases endorphins, the body’s own natural painkillers), Yoga (the cat stretch and the pelvic tilt), visualization techniques, aromatherapy, acupuncture and herbs like Dong Quai, Ginseng, Stragalus root, Ligusticum root and White Peony root are also said to be helpful alternative techniques for managing the pain.

domicile remedies? i'm quite sorry - even if to the staggering of my skills (to boot a sizzling water bottle held just about in which the cramps are being felt) - there do not seem any?? I suffered (even if do) from severe period cramps for decades. the finest aspect that gave me clinical care change into once Midol - over the counter in any drugstore... they're good. persist with the guidelines carefully. and also you opt to attend 4 hrs after taking yet another variety of remedy e.g. tylenol etc. in case you pick to get them, they take a nicely 45mins to kick in initially - even if it really is worth it. strong strong fortune.

Glucose sweets from a pharmacy.... It gives you an energy boost which gets rid of the cramps within minutes. A hot water bottle is also a good remedy if you are at home. Try the sweets though. It definately works

Exercise is helpful. Also I have found motrin is better than tylenol for me especially if you know your cycle, take the motrin the night before you are going to get your period, then that way it can help stop the pain before it starts. warm baths help too.
