I got the a/c unit out of the house but some of the stuff still filled the house. I opened the windows and left the house for a few hours. hope that's all i needed to do.

Nope!!!! it is just cheaper to just replace the window unit itself because the tech will cost you some good labor plus parts especially freon. I don't know how old the unit is but a new will will be of less worries for a while just keep cleaning the filter. what you saw was the Freon evaporating to the atmoshere. it is against EPA regulation to vent intentionally to the atmosphere, that is why freon is now regulated

What you saw was the vapor from the Freon. It can be dangerous to breath Freon directly, if you opened the house, it dissipated and is not longer a concern.

Little information as to what line was broke. Sounds like a refrigerant line broke and you lost the refrigerant as well as refrigerant oil. Not dangerous but a/c will not work until repaired by a professional.

That's just the freon. You should be OK and the dissipation of odor should be enough unless you saturated something and feel the need to clean the item

In your case, I would have an a/c guy look at it. The broken line could be the freon line

you are good now. It's freon.. Just don't breathe it directly.. cause it will kill you

Call the fire station's non-emergency number and ask them. They can tell you.
