If you are using dial up, then you could have been getting hit with a double whammy (spelling). Sometimes, believe it or not Yahoo does run a little slow on some parts of its services, where some parts are running fine but others not so fine.

Then, there's your connection to the Internet. Dial up is by far the worse. Sometimes, you get lucky and get lucky and connect all the time at a nice high speed somewhere around 54K or so, but if you're not so lucky your connection is either all over the board or just down right slow all the time (yuck). And then, we can't forget how the weather effects a dial up connection, whenever it rains your connection degrades even if you are in the middle of something.

Broadband connections are a lot better, because they are much faster and they usually cost the same, unless you are getting your dial up for free. The only problem with broadband is they suffer from a slow down in speed during peak, which is caused by everybody that has broadband in the neighborhood trying to use it at the same time.

If you ask me, DSL is the best because you always have the same speed you pay for no matter how many people in your neighborhood are online (no, I don't work for the phone company). Basic DSL cost about the same as dial up, but once again only if you're not getting it for free.

What kind of connection do you have? That might be the problem.
