You might write about some local problems of where you live, or about global ones. I mean, like new information on some disease, scientific discoveries, etc. Actually, so many interesting things in the world, and it's all so dynamic. Why don't you try writing on the crackdown on illegal immigrants in the U.S.? The reason I suggest this is because, when I was in school, I was lazy, and it is very easy to do research on this subject. It has been in the news and there is a myriad of information out there. Your research should be very easy.
