Attorney General Albert Gonzalez and FBI Director, Robert Mueller want to request that Congress pass legislation that Internet providers keep all net records and that they be available to law enforcement. They have met with the major Internet Companies , who want to compromise and keep all customer records for one year for the government agencies.
Law enforcement agencies have said it is to have information on child predators, a great buzz word, but Gonzalez wants a Federal Law to keep your records indefinetly.

It hasn't been too long ago that one ISP turned over records to the Chinese Government and the records were used for political arrests, prosecutions and imprisonment.
Do any of you, whether Conservative, Liberal or apolitical agree with this proposed legislation?

Public Access, no, when we sign on most sites, we have a privacy clause with the provided of that service, that's wy we have a choice of keeping our profiles private , if all of , say, Y answers was public, why bother to sign in? Why would I expect any degree of the guarantee of privacy from my paid ISP?
Had such there had been such laws, and the agencies to enforce them, the US would still be a colony. Our founding fathers hung as traitors.

I guess the AG and FBI can just develop a program that pulls all the information off of the Internet. After all it is public access so they don't have to ask at all. What they are asking for are records for specific targets. I don't really care since I have nothing to worry about. If I wanted security I certainly wouldn't use the Internet. My biggest issue with this is how much is this going to cost the ISP's to store these records and will those costs be passed along to us.

If it's true, I would support it. If it stops one person from being killed by terrorists or a child being molested, it will be worth it.

I don't have anything to hide anyway.
