i want to get married in a registery office do i need my original birth certificate i was born in belfast nireland and the birth death n marriage office where i applied was bombed what do i do?

You can get copies of birth certificates from your General Register Office ... see link below ... and you can apply online

It will probably cost you about £5.50 for a short form and £7.00 for a full certificate.

I'm pretty sure you do need your birth certificate, but If you can't find yours and the birth, death and marriage office was bombed, see if your local birth, death and marriage office that is local to you can help you resolve this.

A passport will do won't it?

If you absolutely need a birth certificate, which I doubt, then you could get a letter from somewhere about the bombing.

There should still be a central registry office. I know there is one in Edinburgh, they may be able to help track yours down for you.

we had to get copies of ours cos when my dad left us as kids he took them and still hasn't let us have them back. i just got a copy when i was younger so i could get my passport, driving license, get married etc...

call your local municipality and ask what exactly you will need to be married, they will answer your questions.
