Great Question! Without the Koran poor Middle Eastern populations would only have past experience to fall back on for reason. If that were the case, I suspect they would love the west for it's aid and arms.
The reason for logical reason is education. I may be overstepping here but, I believe in large part that Muslims are undereducated therefore, the Koran is the only educational tool for the majority.

If you take away the Bible, is a Christian capable of reasoned argument??
If you take away the Torah, is a Jew capable of reasoned argument??
The answer is NO to all of the above and your question. Simply because Religion itself is irrational. Therefore, religious people are incapable of rationale if they use their faith as a foundation for their thinking.
And honestly speaking, NEARLY ALL RELIGIONS ARE BASED ON FAIRYTALES. THEY ARE NEARLY ALL LIES.

Most likely not, it's the same with Christians, if you take away the Bible, no scriptures and the words of God to quote, they have no reasoned argument either. Everyone has to start with a frame of reference and, hopefully, go forward from there.
Most Christians will tell you that the only faith is theirs and the only true text is the bible, so your question is moot.

I don't think they understand "reasoned argument." If you disagree with them about anything, they might just call for your execution (just look at the Pope) -- I would hate to see their reaction if we took away the Koran!

Well the bible and Torah and Koran are all originated from Arab lands and therefore contain the same text.

I really don't think this group of people are able to think on their own. There is a lack of education in the middle east. But then again even here in the USA people still believe in the bible which is well known as a fairytale.

I know Christians who think the same way about the Bible. This is not unique to Islam.
But in answer to your question, it depends upon the Muslim.

Not sure,, but I am going to start a protest if they dare call me an INFIDEL one more time.
Instead of an apology the Pope should have said "All I did was quote it, you wrote it"
