This friend likes to call me up and start asking ? about how I raise my kids! Her son and my son skipped school together and my son got grounded from everything for a month. She calls me and tells me that I should do what she did and tell him that that was his only chance and if he does it again he'll get into trouble. So her son got nothing and went to school ragging my son about it. I've told my son that her son is not a true friend. But I'm beggining to think that she's no better. What do you think?

Well we are all very protective of our children. Most likely she is a bit lazy and didn't want to ground her son. It's a lot of work denying some one.

I don't know if this is a measure of her friendship. It may have been her more asking for help than telling you what to do.

I would evaluate her other traits of friendship and if she's okay in other areas just agree to disagree about the way you raise your children.

I hope it helped. Good LUCK!

Well I wouldn't say her son is not really a true friend to your son -- he's just a kid who got away with something your son didn't. I think it was excellent you punished your son. I also think it was okay she let her's off the hook this once. Save your get out of jail free card for something else. If she's a real friend you can tell her that you raise your kids your way and she raises her kids her way it doesn' t have to come between your friendship but that you do what YOU feel is best for your family. With that being said maybe she will think about it before she tell you what you should have done but make sure you do it with a light heart so she knows it's just being friendly about something that is bugging you.

First of all; it's none of her buisiness how you raise your son, she has no right to tell you how you should handle family situations! Tell her to butt out and if she doesn't except your wishes, tell her good friends are hard to come by and she's going to lose you as a friend!

I think that if my child skipped school I would have done the same thing. If your friend is critizing the way that you are parenting your child then she/he is not a true friend. i would try to talk with them to see how they feel and if they meant what they said the way that you took it.

I had the same problem- my daughter was friends with girls who had ridiculously lenient parents. They went so far as to discuss me in front of my child!

All you can do is limit your child's time alone with that family.

Stick to your rules.

Good luck.

I couldn't be friends with someone like that especially when it came to my kids. Sorry, but I'd of told her where to get off at.

Get rid of her, also forbid your son to see her son. They will only drag you down.

You are right she is no better because she should not tell you her methods of punishments if she doesn't use them herself. If I was you I would tell her she needs to practice what she preach and don't give advice to others if she dosen't do it herself.
