I think that there's always room for the grey blockface smiley avatars for those that can't be bothered to create an avatar of their own, want to create an air of mystery or genuinley look like that anyway. By the way in real life I'm a two-ton purple gorilla with a six foot forehead, bright green hair and a jawline not far removed from Johnny Bravo....or am I?

I've been considering becoming a gray-smiley-blockhead-face myself. That's what I used to be, but then I got bored and decided to look into the avatar-creating process.

There was only one face that was at all similiar to mine, and there wasn't really any hair that was quite right; although there was some that's close. So I put them together and came up with what looked like a smiling ten-year-old girl. Since I don't go around with a smile stuck on my face all the time I switched to the straight face; but then it looked like a straight-faced little girl. I tried the unhappy face, but it was way too unhappy to be at all right. Since its been a while since I've been ten, I felt like it was false advertising; so I then put a big "rain-hat" and glasses on the thing, and she looked like a sleuth. Well, that's not my personality; so I then went with the hat that I'm now using; but the avatar doesn't look quite right for me either. The character looks like she's got a giant attitude problem, but if I take the glasses off she looks even more wrong. Oh - what to do, what to do.......

I'm considering the gray-smiley-face-blockhead without the smile and with the hat and the sunglasses. Maybe that would be more like me..

Entertaining for whom? If someone is more interested in looking at "cute" avatars, then they may be better off looking at fashion magazines. What someone has to say is more important than what they look like. People who are secure in themselves can retain a sense of anonymity--they don't need to impress someone.

I just had a shot - thought I had done it but it doesn't seem to be appearing on my page thingy......I am destined to be a grey smiley face methinks.........

Cause I look in the mirror every morning and think to myself "Wouldn't it be great if I had a square head, grey skin and a permanently smiley face?"

Hahahaha! I can't believe what a_c wrote - "All avatars look the same." Has he not noticed that all the grey smiley faces are in fact, identical???

And by the way - this is an excellent question '_'

I am no cartoon. I wanted to put my real picture, but did not want to put myself out there. Cute question though.
