why not drink water, its the same thing, minus the wear and tear on your teeth. Water is great for you as far as keeping you hydrated, your body functions running smoothly and best of all it doesn't have any calories. If you really like to chew ice, I'd switch to popsicles, they're usually not quite as hard as pure ice and therefore not as bad on your teeth.

Chewing ice cubes can lead to dental fractures. It is not advisable to chew anything harder than say, a carrot; a broken tooth is NO fun.
As a complete aside, it's been said that if you chew ice, you're sexually frustrated. Hmmm....

It isn't good or bad for the body. It's just water. Can be bad for the teeth though.
Chewing ice is considered a form of pica when done to excess.
