In order for it to show up on yahoo it has to be promoted.

If you just made it, of course it will not show up...it takes a little bit of time for the search engines' spiders to find the site. You can manually add your site to most search engines though.

its determined by the search engine's search formula.
for ex. google tracks based on page rating... which means.. the more number of times a page is visited..google will put that first.

if your page has meta data defined most search engine should pick yours smoothly.

if your website is classified in your domain.. then again search engines pick them..

have you tried any of this.

make sure you have keywords in your meta tags and have a description of your site, provide a few links to iother sites relating to whatever your site represents, if that is done then give it time for the spiders or robots to crawl your pages usually takes up to a month my site took only a week but all depends on who else is waiting in line to be ranked.

depends on website and search engine. not all websites are listed in search engines.
it's like libraries.. there are small libraries and large libraries.. but none of them has all books printed on earth

Try to submit it again or resubmit again if you saw a few weeks later still no result...
Mine one also not much able to get searched...
