Don't even think about it without a literary agent. If you can;t convince an agent, you'll never convince a publisher.

In that case first you must have a novel written by now..then you can possibly think of publishing it

buy the writers year book. its full of useful hints and tips and lists of publishers and their prefered genres.
i've use it and have just sent off my manuscript to a good few around the country so finger crossed for both of us i think!
