As usual, the bozos are answering with rubbish when they don't know the answer.

Start with the fact that "illegal" may be in the eyes of the beholder.

SOME TOURISTS can get driving licenses. Canadians who are snowbirds and spend a lot of time (but under six months a year) in Florida aren't illegal. But they can get licenses (these may or may not be marked as valid "only in Florida" (I have seen that endorsement on licenses given to Amcits who need a Florida license but also need one from another state where they are domiciled). See: http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us/ddl/faqkeys.html#NUSC
"All Canadian citizens will be issued an original or renewal driver license for two calendar years from the date of issue."

A foreign driving license is valid in the United States for up to a year; in practice an illegal alien will use it indefinitely. One of the problems in not making licenses available to illegals is -- if you're not going to expel them -- that they're going to drive anyway, and their INSURANCE MAY BE VOID if they are unlicensed.

Licenses validly issued to undocumented aliens in the past are valid until they expire but will not be renewed. Bearing in mind that 70% of persons whose licenses are suspended for DUI continue to drive, I image that at least that proportion of undocumented aliens will do so.

So some states now issue NON-ID DRIVING PERMITS, which makes sense. The point is not to reward the illegal but to protect the citizen from being injured by an uninsured motorist.

And pity the poor Tohono O'odham Native American tribe and the Kickapoo tribe, whose reservations and lives straddle the Mexican frontier, and who often can't prove their nationality. (First Canadians don't have to: the Jay Treaty (1894) gives them the absolute right to cross the border freely, live and work in the USA. All they have to do is prove they're on tribal rolls.)

I see that Canadian provinces are now also demanding proof of citizenship or legal status; but unlike US states they are not demanding it retroactively, to those already holding licenses.

All the rubbish I've written aside, the facts and unintended consequences of REAL ID are set out in a 330-page PDF document, the second link below.

I actual have on no account been extra severe approximately answering a query. there is no way illegals could be allowed to vote nor receive drivers licenses. the only ingredient illegals are allowed is a trip decrease back around the border of their interior sight usa. this question is like asking if criminals in penal complex would want to pass loose. for sure a query like that shouldn't additionally be on the table. i actual do no longer think of the theory is extensively understood. i think of the seen regulation could be inserted interior the college gadget someplace interior the mid-grade college point. regulations are to be accompanied no longer an impediment to get around.

I don't know about the States, but in my country this is not possible. You are allowed to pass your driving test (which are very expensive) but the certificate you receive after passing is not a valid driving license. In order to exchange your certificate into a genuine driving license you have to go to your local government's office. You have to show means of identification and proof that you are a legal resident in the Netherlands (either temporarily or permanently).

If they get a drivers license they did not get it legaly. If they did it is because the republican party is helping them because they want the low wage employees.
