The ballots in my state allow only democratic or republican voiting. You must state your political party and vote that ticket.

OK.....in the first vote..you will vote your party....that is to get the person who will run for that party, reps will vote on rep candidates and dems for dems....the main elections, the ones in november, will be where you get the ballot and can vote for either party....

I dont belive there is any place in America that makes you vote for the partty you are registered with. Are you sure about this?

* Democratic Party, founded circa 1792
* Republican Party, founded 1854

Thats a very good question.

I'm not sure when, but I can tell you why.

When there are parties, it keeps Joe Public and his mind busy trying to decide which party is 'better' or the lesser of two evils.

That way what is really going on in the government won't be noticed. It's all smoke and mirrors.

I'd say only 30-40% of people vote solely by political party and this is because they have a pet cause that their political party adheres to strictly. Mostly because of Roe v. Wade.
