if you are willing to pay a bit more, you could go to a mac counter at the mall. i'm sure they will be able to find a perfect match for you.

If you can afford it, try a department store's cosmetic counters. There you'll be able to try MAC, Estee Lauder, Lancome, Clinique, Chanel - and others depending on where you live. Most of the representatives at these counters don't have any problems helping you out or even providing you with little testers you can take home.
If you can't afford it, try switching to a different brand or maybe try a tinted moisturizer - those are pretty helpful as well.
And if none of those sound like good enough options, just try mixing one of those that you have that is just a little darker with some moisturizer, it helps tone down the color and will help your foundation go on smoother.
Best of luck!

If you're in N. America I suggest looking up your local phone book for Amway/Quixtar distributors and ask an experienced person near you to do an Artistry demo on you. They usually would do this complementarily at your home and you get to experience firsthand different foundations that may be suited to you. The Artistry person will know what kind of foundation and what colour would be best for you, and also show you how to wear your foundation properly. It's one of the top 5 brands of cosmetics alongside Clinique, Estee Lauder, Chanel, and Lancome, but price-wise it's very competitive and affordable. This is how I started buying Artistry makeup and I've never changed since.
If you're not in America, send me an email and I'll find out how you can get a complimentary Artistry demo somewhere near you.
Good luck.

I have the same skin tone (super light with blonde hair). I think I've tried them all. One that works really well and does not aggraviate my skin is bare esscentuals. It comes in a powder form and they have a "very light" formula.
I tried mac foundation, but I looked like I had a mask on.
Good luck.

Go to the nearest major department store cosmetic counter and have them match you complexion and skin type for the correct season. You may be darker complected in the summer than in the winter.

Try bare minerals or some other type of powder foundation in ivory. You can put it on lightly and it should give you the right color for your skin.

PRESCRIPTIVES!!!!!!!!!! they custom mix the color for your shade and you can select the type of foundation you want (ie.; matte, hydrating, for oily skin etc.)
It is more expensive than the drugstore bought ones, but remember that foundation is the thing you should splurge on when it comes to makeup.
