Like most people don't truly understand the real meaning behind the word Hollywood. Hopefully this will help enlighten you. It is not the sweet little story jayaraman tells.
Its true origins go back to Nordic times and Pagan rituals.
“The druids were tree worshippers, especially the oak. The holly was their most sacred symbol because it was sacred to mother Holle or Hel, the [Norse] goddess of the underworld……thus we have Holle, or Holly-wood (Hel-wood, the “place of magic”) and home of the Illuminati’s mass propaganda and conditioning machine in California. The holly wood was a favourite source of magic wands.” i could go into a deep and detailed history of Hollywood that would help you understand what I just said is true but I think everyone should do their own research and learn these truths for themselves.

Hollywood has magical connotations,involving witchcraft,the wood itself.most people are indoctrinated automatons with nil esoteric knowledge so they take everything they see at face value not realizing that most all symbols ans sigils have double and sometimes triple meanings,the Eagle on the Back of the Dollar bill is apparent but to the adepts it is a Phoenix,which is to say it's esoteric(For the few) meaning is a phoenix.Ordo ab chao.

A long time ago there was a housing development in the LA area called Hollywoodland. They put up the name in big wooden letters, and it's still there today, with the last four letters gone. Hollywood came to be the label for the LA Entertainment Industry, even though today no studios are actually located there, and no celebrities live there.

I knew Lokasenna would be all over this one. I'd like to add that Hades, which is translated as "Hell" in most of the New Testament is much the same way as Hel. Not necessarily a place of torment, but more of respite. You have to be a seriously irreverent and evil person to deserve punishment in Hades, which is usually carried out at the hands of the Erinyes, or Furies. They were also referred to as the "Kindly Ones", a propitiary nickname.

Now you know where the name " Hollywood " came from.
For those of you who keep asking me where the name Hollywood came from; its because my real name is Hollie.One Luv and Im Out.
The towns name came from Daeida, who, while on a train trip east met a woman that described her country home in Ohio , that had been named for the Dutch settlement of Hollywood.
With annexation, the name of Prospect Avenue was changed to Hollywood Boulevard and all the street numbers in the new district changed; 100 Prospect Avenue, at Vermont Avenue , became 6400 Hollywood Boulevard;

It's from the Middle English phrase "holy woode", referring to the wood of the Cross. Seriously. I will try to find an etymological reference online and post it later.
