I wouldn't say I'm a sci-fi "buff", but I do enjoy sci-fi. My all time favorite and the best show ever that never should have been cancelled would have to be Firefly. And it's all the fault of the Fox network that it was so short lived. They barely advertised it at all when it was out and (here's the biggest problem) they aired it on Friday nights! How many people are home watching TV on Friday nights? I haven't watched TV on Friday night since TGIF was on ABC and I even stopped watching that when I hit a certain age because there were better things to do on a Friday night.

All the books of Stanislaw Lem &
Isaac Assimov, Arthur C. Clarke .... might be enough
Science-fiction... And of course the movies.

Like "2001" and "I, Robot" and
"Planet Of Apes"
(all — incl. Tim Burton's new one)
"Soylent Green" and so on...

"Total Recall" · "Silent Running" and so on...

But my favorite sci-fi-movie is still
"A.I." by Kubrick / Spielberg.

This movie is still
the best sci-fi-movie ever.
Although there is no hope at the
end of the story... But I like it.

And of course I like "2001" — the best science-fiction
in its time 1967. How could Stanley Kubrick know all
this!!! that's so amazing. And uncredible...

I would call myself a semi sci fi "buff" here. All the Star Trek incarnations and movies(Deep Space Nine being my favorite), Doctor Who new and old, original three Star Wars, and others. I like the new show Eureeka (which someone answered your question calling it Town Called Eureeka which is incorrect).

Yes. My favorites have to be the short stories "Unicorn Variation" by Roger Zelazny and "Bears Discover Fire" by Terry Bisson.
