There are two ways, you can get your poems published and copyrighted and don't put them on the Internet for people to copy them and make it their own.

From Wikipedia's entry on the Berne Convention:
"As of July 2006, there are 162 countries [see this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_party_to_the_Berne_Convention ] that are signatory to the Berne Convention, an international agreement about copyright, first adopted in Berne, Switzerland in 1886...The Berne Convention requires its signatories to protect the copyright on works of authors from other signatory countries (known as members of the Berne Union) in the same way it protects the copyright of its own nationals, which means that, for instance, French copyright law applies to anything published or performed in France, regardless of where it was originally created...
"Copyright under the Berne Convention must be automatic; it is prohibited to require formal registration." So your poems are automatically copyrighted the instant they're completed.
For further protection, I'd recommend including on your web site a note to the effect that your poems are copyright in your name. You could also put a copy of your poems in an envelope and mail it to yourself, but not open it. That way, if you get into legal difficulties, the postmark on the envelope will be evidence of when you wrote them.

Don't put them on a website. Open a 360 blog and keep it 'private'. You can then 'invite' your friends to read it via email. In that way, the general public will be unable to read your blog.
