I would go for something some what traditional to avoid having a "period" name that has nickname possibilities and can be personalized if you choose. Also something that sounds good for kids and adults. Think about how many middle aged women will be named Ashley 30 years from now and while a name like

Charles - definitely stands the test of time and who does like a Charlie.

William - Will for a cute boy and Liam for a sexy man and William for the business man.

By the way I recently has a baby girl and named her Claire using the same principals that I outlined in my answer. And it nevers fails when I tell people her name both young and old lover her name.

I loved the names Myles, Owen, Lake, but we chose Gavin. For months, I made my husband sit there while I read out every name in the baby name book. He would either tell me absolutely no, or we'd discuss it. We ended up getting down to about 4 boy and girl names. But when Gavin was born, we knew exactly what to name him. And it has turned out to be perfect, just like him....Good luck, you'll know when you see him.

I wanted to name our son "Spencer", but we wanted a Welsh name, so that was out. But with your last name (if it's the real one) Spencer would sound great!
