Doctor! Alot more money, and you can always change your field of study/work. You could be a pediatric doc, surgeon, all kinds. That's what I would do if I were you. But it has to be what you want, you'll be doing it for the rest of your life! You have to enjoy your job!

Remember, people hate the Dentist. Most unloved person on Earth!

People don't get that way with doctors until you send them to a Hospital or Lab, then they start to grumble about you, too!

It's more expensive to be a Dentist. Let's face it you buy most of your Doctor's tools by 3rd yeard med school (stethoscope, BP pad, themomenter).

As a dentist you gotta buy that drill rig. get all sorts of tools that look Midevil. You set those next to the patient and he starts hating you for being a member of the Spanish Inqisition. X Ray machine. Sonic cleaner for the drill.

You also have to pay more people. You need an XRay tech, hygeinist and receotpionst. They cost money. Unless you want to do it all yourself. Then you work for a living.

You still need a "hook" holder while you work with patients.

It can cost $500,000 to buy a fully equipped dental office. You get it back, of course, when you retire and sell it for over a million.

As to making money, Well, Denistry can be more profitable. Everyone needs their teeth done. There are lots of insurance plans that give you $$$$ each month, plus free goodies like Xylocaine, Amalgam.

An extractin is $75 to $150 and costs about $1 in xylocine and takes 20 minutes of work, plus 1 Xray film.

When you come up to a procedure that is too risky, you tell the patient they have to go to a specialist (oral Surgeon).

Some Dentits even have resident Ceramacists (procline cap makers) in their office. A cap is like $300 and costs like $50 to make or $95 to buy from the outside.

Now, you left out the really good job. Eye Doctor. Optometrist. Yes, you need to buy the same equipment, but the pricing factor is amazing.

Cost of lenses are like $15 and you sell them for $50 or more. Frames are light 60% off to you. So cheap frames are like $10 and you sell them for like $30.

Then three are high priced lenses. Nikon, Zeiss. Costs the consumer $300, costs you $90.

Being a Doctor is like Being a lawyer. YOu either work at a clinic and make $65K to start or you hang up a shingle and wait for the phone to ring. Meanwhile you're paying rent and mal practise insurace and a girl to answer the phones.

And there are perks here too. The Drug companies leave you all sorts of free samples and you can put them into little envelopes and sell them to your patients for $10 a bag.

It is better if you choose the career that you really want to do in life where you can make a big difference in other peoples life and have a passion for it...Volunteer at the hospital or dental office and observe the work of a doctor and dentist and see if their work inspires you.

My answer for your question would be dentistry is better because i am a dental student. hahaha. I hope you have fun in your organic chemistry class.

Its all up to you! What do you like the most what intrigues you ?what do you want to devote your life too? What do you want to be doing in the next ten years. Do what makes you the happiest and that is the right choice.
