I would also love to know of any good classes in the Washington DC, MD, VA,PA,NY area. I'm really ready to put in the time , effort and years for acting.

Stanislavsky, Uta Hagen, Grotowski, Antonin Artaud are a few theater writers who have written about acting. Also read plays written by the Greeks (Sophocles, Aristophanes,etc ) Shakespeare, Lope de Vega, Chekhov, Berthold Brecht, Dario Fo, Wole Soyinka, Federico Garcia Lorca, Ionesco, Becket...
So much to read and enjoy!

Good luck to you - sounds like great fun. But if you have this passion, why aren't you all over your local library or out there talking with directors of professional theaters in your area to learn about resources and schools? New York is one of the "areas" you list - you DO know of Julliard, Lee Strasbourg, The Great White Way... DON'T you?

Go to a theatrical book store where you live, look at the books, buy those that interest you.
