No, that's not offensive. You're just trying to protect your son from bacteria and germs that he could collect and you never know, but he could possibly catch something deadly. Don't overreact, but I think you're fine in telling people that.

Sort of depends on how old your son is, but a kid learning to eat off of others' plates ect. could be a real social problem if he takes it a step further and helps himself to others' food and drink.

I totally agree. You don't know what kind of disease germs are in someone elses mouth. Why risk it? Any health care professional will support you on this one.

I totally agree... with all the germs out there, why? Just don't share. My sister gets offended when I tell her no she can't share with my kids. I tell her it is gross, plus she smokes I don't want her smoke cooties on them! Just tell them he backwashes. That should quell their queries!
