Even though hosiery remains in fashion how come most women prefere tights (pantyhose) to stockings, despite in my opinion them being less comfortable and a health hazard?

now you've forgotten my favourites! Hold/Stay ups!
tights aren't overly comfy but they do keep your butt warm if you're wearing a short skirt. don't want icicles hanging off your knickers!
Stockings i found i could never keep done up and frustrating as hell tbh.
Anyway husband prefers hold ups so its all good :)

Of the women in my past...
One only wore stockings (pantyhose) if it was required by law or the dress code.
Several wore pantyhose with half and half hating/loving it. Convenience seemed to be the reason.
Two wore garters and stockings, and these two seemed to be the ones which preferred dressing up for the day. They both had some things in common. Both women said they felt sexier, confident and sleek. Both cited comfort as both could not find pantyhose which did become uncomfortable after only a short time of wear. Neither wore stockings as a sexual thing. Both wore a wide garter belt which was more of a utility garmet than the frilly lacy things from Victorias Secret or Fredericks of Hollywood citing these things were toys not suitable for all day wear.
From my point of view as a guy, I like seeing a well dressed woman and that means stockings of any kind. I like seeing a well turned ankle and stockings complement the look and make my eyes feel warm.
I do not believe pantyhose pose a health hazard. Who says so? As for comfort, most of the women I have known have found pantyhose to be comfortable if correctly sized. Women my age grew up with regular nylon stockings which required garters and when pantyhose came onto the scene tried them and most liked the convenience it seems, but a few went back to the regular nylons. I have been fortunate to know two of these ladies who went retro and back to what they wore at first, thinking them more comfortable, sexier and sleek. And for me, seeing these two get dressed and undressed was a thrill, which both appreciated. Today, the knitting machines for regular stockings no longer exist in the US but only in Europe, so the cost is higher than it used to be, but these two women I know pay the extra price for their comfort for long time all day wear in the workplace.

Well I am a convert to stockings. I wear them mainly with suspenders.
I had the frustrations most girls seem to have when they first try them, i.e. suspenders come unclipped all the time, hold ups don't hold up, but if you buy a 'proper' comfortable suspender belt (with metal clips) and not one designed for bedroom fun, they stay up fine and are much more comfortable to wear over tights/pantyhose (and much more hygenic and practical too).
I find hold ups are ok if you get the ones with silicone rather than elastic too.
And what's wrong if a little bump of my suspenders shows through my skirt? It's amazing what power and confidence it can give you over a man ;-) and after all, don't people see your bra straps and thongs showing....what's the difference?

I like them on a woman. They look nice. Hey, look - nobody has perfect skin and stockings are a great way for a woman to look nice. I much prefer a woman in thigh highs or using a garter as opposed to pantyhose - but hey - whatever works.

While I am a man who prefers to see women in pantyhose as opposed to stockings, at least stockings are better then bare legs.

Stockings got a really bad press for a while as they are thought to cut of the circulation and contribute to varicose veins. Much better to wear a lovey comfortable pair of tights and keep your legs vein free!.x

Stockings...my present of choice whenever I give a gift to a lady friend. Nothing sexier than seeing her slip them on for you.

stockings always always fall down, whether hold ups or held up by stocking holders.
plus stocking holders show through your clothes
