I almost bought my sister a lobster as pet once. I've owned a Pac-Man frog who was the cutest thing, but now the only 'kind-of' unique pets I have are 3 huge red-ear slider turtles and a ferret. Oh yeah, I have pet ducks too. One is gray with a big pom-pom on her head. Her name is Paris, and her male companion is named London. :-)

My brother had a defumed skunk. He got it from a customer (he was a hair dresser at the time) that was giving it up for adoption. The skunk was a real brat that would get into EVERYTHING. It especially liked "collecting" his wife's jewellery (I guess because of the sparkle). One day it tore through the screen window and disappeared. Since they lived on a ravine, my brother thinks he decided to join his wild cousins (he hadn't been spayed--only the scent gland was removed).
To the answerer who has the wolf...I would be very careful with this one. We had a neighbour whose son presented them with a 3/4 timberwolf pup. The wolf was raised with dogs, and was completely trained in obedience and self-discipline (no howling at night ever). But when it hit it's full maturity at just over 5 years, the wild wolf came to the fore. It was dangerous to the neighbourhood, because it would decide to go "walkabout" at any time. Even though it was kept behind a 5 foot fence, all it needed was one bounce to get over it. I found it outside my side door when I walked out one day (without warning). It looked at me and challenged me (I think I had startled it as much as it had startled me). But it was a good thing that I had always fed it as a pup (behind it's own fence--I would share my popsicles or a piece of candy, and it liked my dog) because it seemed to recognize my voice, and I was able to speak firmly to it and get it to go home. The salesman who disregarded the sign at the gate wasn't that lucky. The wolf chased him down the street (with the man screaming the whole way) and came back with a mouthful of pant cloth. THAT was when they decided to send the wolf back up north where he belonged. The son came to pick him up (he lived in the Northwest Territories at the time) and gave him back to the trapper he had got him from. I don't know what happened to him afterwards.

3 years ago we had a rooster. My granddaughter brought home a baby chick from school, with her mom's permission and it turned out to be a pure white foghorn rooster. We kept him in the house at winter time in a huge cage. Every morning, cock a doodle doo. We called him Chirpy. He is now in rooster heaven, he had gotten so big he broke his leg running in the backyard. Pretty cool pet we had, and lots of fun.

I have had a wolf for 3 yrs. There is a breeder in Quebec that specializes in raising and training wolves. It was expensive, but if you get them while they are young they are easily trainable. Problem was getting him to shut up at night though!
