Oh come on.. do you really believe this drivvle!!!!
Take a look at tactics by the muslims and it's easy to see why the innocent die. Muslims use typical neighborhoods as bases to plan and carry out attacks from. When the attacks are over they run back to the neighborhoods and hide among women, children and other innocents. Then when an attack is carried out against them and the innocent die they scream, as do some of you, about war crimes and atrocities.
Muslims also use their Mosques as stongholds. They hole up in them and shoot from the windows. Then when an attack against them is launched they scream and cry, as do some of you, about the lack of respect for Islam.
That's a Terrorist for you..Kill anyone, even in your own if it betters your cause...
BOTTOM LINE
Freedom fighters don't choose to hurt their own people in thier struggle.
EDIT - twokay75 wrote "Uncle Sam: Tactics of attacking and hiding? That's guerilla tactics for you, not terrorism."
Umm no imbecile: It's terrorism when you attack and then hide under a baby crib, a mosque, or in the center of a largely populated civilian community.
It's guerilla tactics when you attack, then disappear into a tunnel underground, only to pop out the other end and attack again, much like the viet cong did. GOD! what is with you people??? Why do Lib/apologists/ Moral equivalist always find a way to side with Islam??
Don't you know that Islam is the most anti-freedom, anti-womens rights, anti-human rights, anti-democracy religion on the planet?
Traditionally liberalism opposses ALL OF THAT.
do you realize that you are selling out EVERY ONE of your core beliefs when you side with countries like Iran or groups like hezzbollah?
Do you really hate your country that badly that you would sell out your beliefs to Islam?????
By the way, simpleton; you cant win the hearts and minds of people whose religous faith tells them to kill and hate anyone not of their faith.

Michael Collins and the other thugs of the IRA were always terrorists to me. The IRA and the PIRA had no problem with attacking innocent civilians, shooting at soldiers and policemen from atop blocks of apartments and creating bomb factories in residential areas. Likewise most of the original founders of the state of Israel were terrorists. The basic difference seems to be that if you blow up Americans you are a terrorist, if you blow up anyone else you probably aren't.

This is the REAL question, and perhaps key to winning the war in Iraq; i.e., UNDERSTANDING our enemy, and not merely trying to kill him.
To many Iraqis, we are INVADERS of their country, who have little understanding or respect for their religious beliefs or culture. Originally, the "insurgents" were Islamic Fundamentalists fighting against Capitalist oppression (America) and invasion of their country. They would consider themselves freedom fighters, as we DID invade their country. As the war carried on, and over 100 thousand Iraqi civilians have been killed, more Iraqis become angry at the effects our presence there has caused, and join in the fight against our occupation.
From what I have read, the military seems to understand this very well, and tries to take steps and make recommendations for more effective methods. Unfortunately they are dictated to by the present administration on how to deal with it, and that methodology is shaped by the "claims" this administtration makes to justify the war, instead of the reality of the situation. This war, like our politics, has become a war of words and semantics, instead of honest assesment. We invaded Iraq to overthrow their government, and force a new government on them, in plain English. Many Iraqis do not see this as "freedom", and OUR government currently ignores this little fact, perhaps causing the deaths of more of our soldiers than is necessary. All propoganda aside, the current methodology is clearly failing. Bush needs to let go, and let our military leaders make their own decisions on how to best win this war. Bush needs to stand behind them...not on top of them.

He who asks the question wins the argument.
If said fighter is fighting against American interests, such fighter shall not be called a freedom fighter. A label like terrorist or insurgent would be more pallatable.
Where the enemy of said fighter is not in agreement of American policies, or if such enemy of said fighter is an inconvenient obstacle to the progression and expansion of American interests, such fighter shall be called a freedom fighter.
Such is the sad state of affairs the world is in. As such, people in Palestine fighting for the liberation of their land shall never be called a freedom fighter, regardless of their methods.
******
Uncle Sam: Tactics of attacking and hiding? That's guerilla tactics for you, not terrorism. Not that I condone hiding behind women and children, it's not something new, and definitely not limited to Muslims as you suggest.
The thing to not do in a situation such as that is to apply the scorched earth strategy. The USA used that in Vietnam, and how did that end up? Israel used whats more or less that against the Hezbollah in Lebanon recently and they ended up strengthening the support of Hezbollah amongst the Lebanese.
Whatever happened to the battle for hearts and minds?

The only line is who's side you are on.
If the person is fighting on your side he is a freedom fighter.
If the person is fighting against you he is a terrorist/insurgent/rebel.
They all attack their enemy and those who side with their enemy.
(that includes civilians)
It has been that way throughout history, for example:
We called George Washington, general and war hero.
King George of England called him a rebellious traitor.
