My boss just had a hip replacement. She was in the hospital overnight & went home the next day. She was home for 2 weeks & then was back to work. It was crazy! She felt 100% better and had no pain.

If everything is fine, Total hip replacement recovery takes from a few days to 10 rehab included.
Generally,
Best surgical technique;
Mini invasive (for normal implant).
With this technique the skillfull Doctor wont cut any deep muscles(rotators and adductors) so your recovery will be faster and better because of the reduced loss of blood during the surgery and the improved stability.
Mini invasive technique is done only by a few doctors (in fact it s easier to operate through a "big hole") but some good doctors might do it cutting only the piriformis muscle and you still have a better recovery than the traditional operation that cut many muscles around the hip joint.
Generally,
the Best materials are titanium (TAV4) for the femoral STEM
and BIOLOX strong for the femoral HEAD,
the acetabular cup press fit, (with 1 or two screws to stabilise it!).
There s also a metal_metal head of the femoris that is being implanted with success, it is similar to the anatomical head size so it has a better range of movement and is very difficult to luxate.
As I worked in a surgery theatre I know that this informations can help your recovery.
....anyway, everything must be done according your specific condition and the exclusive view of your Doctor!
Ciao,
Giulio

about 5 to 7 days. It depends on your mobility after the operation and no complications.

My friend had a second hip replacement and she was only in for 4 days. It all depends on how well the person copes and circumstances at home.

It was two weeks when I had mine done but it might well be less now. The quicker you are up and about the better. Life is a lot easier once it is done.
