It depends.
If you like the cold or can tolerate the cold and like all the history than London is awesome.
But if you like hot and the heat doesn't bother you Dubai is so modern. These two choices are so different it isn't even funny.
They are both good places though. Good pay, nice people, plenty to do. I bet the plumbing is cleaner in Dubai, but if you are not Muslim you still need to go by their rules.
I would probably choose London though because even on the weekend you could cross the channel to France and on you vaction you can go anywhere in Europe if your visa allows on the Euro rail. Both are awesome places though.

Hi stell , christine is correct my husband works in the construction industry in dubai. Its a great place to live if you are employed by a brit company and are an engineering consultant/or a sales person.
However not as a tradesman, there are hundreds of them who are not well paid and live in squalid conditions and work in temps which would be unbearable for a brit used to our climate.
The rents are astronomical and increase at 15-25% per year .
BUT
Its very cheap to eat and the temp is lovely in the winter oct-march.
The customers expect /demand extremely high standards of customer service .You need to call them either "Sir or Madam" and do what you promise and on time !
So my advice is get a sales job or consultants position and get sent by a british company ,They'll pay the rent and your car and you will have a good standard of living by gaining the tax and the overseas living allowance .
Good luck Gadrial

Anything gotto be better than London. how much is left after you have paid for the honour of living in London. Not sure what the going rate for a plumber in Dubai is but at least it would be tax free i believe.

Let me put it to you this way.....
Asian plumber? He will be made to live 12 to a room, given a bunk bed if he is really lucky and has to work from 6a.m. to at earliest 4p.m. at least 6 often 7 days a week.
He will travel in the back of a truck with several dozen other bodies and mostly work in unfinished buildings with no electricity in temps ranging from the upper 20'sC to apparent temp of 54C in the summer.
For this he will be paid about 100 pound sterling a month.
Do you think that in the face of this any(real) company there will employ you?

London is a more open and fun place to be. All the Muslim crap in Dubai would make even more money less desirable.

in london a plumber can be well off if he knows his job and doesnt charge an arm and a leg for services rendered. a pound is worth more than a dinar and the living conditions are not as pleasant so i would work in the UK
