If white people can't say it then why should they? If we called anyone that then we'd probably be locked up here in the UK! They can say it whenever they want. Just because they call themselves black they think they can use this word and get away with it. It could still be offensive and one black person could be only quarter right. Where's the fairness in that?

You're wrong saying you wouldn't be locked up. I'm in the UK by the way, I should have said and my friend got arrested and put in a cell for a night just for saying that a black bloke who started on him had hair like Craig David. This black bloke tried to punch my boyfriend but the police did nothing to him.

You're welcome to say that word. And black people are welcome to get offended by it. Equal rights is a separate matter than free speech. Equal rights means we're all protected under the same laws and can do the same things for the same benefits. Free speech means you can say or publish what you want. But realize that you can also suffer the consequences for that action, which the law should protect EQUALLY. But it's ignorant to think that after hundreds of years of oppression and prejudice, that black people won't be more sensitized and afforded more privilege in matters of race.

i think your argument is valid, however when the terms was used in the 50's and the 60's towards a black man/woman from a white person it was done in a negative and derogatory way. When a black man does it to another black man it is done in a form of friendship not a negative way at all.

I think everyone needs to be segregated from each other and no one would have to worry what the other is doing. Each race should govern themselves and not have to give in to what others think about it. The world would be more peaceful then.

Yes, I agree that the word should not be used by either race. But I doubt seriously that you would be locked up for saying it.

It's a matter of taste, not legality.

I feel that if a certain race wants to use a slur against themselves, so be it. It is contradicting years of people fighting for their freedom... but all of that is relative.
If certain races can't respect their own kind, that's their business.

life is not fair. didn't anyone ever tell you that?

I am black and I never use that word, and I call blacks on it whenever they use that word.

They use the word because it pisses off their parents and grand-parents.
