When foreigners comment on the "rude American" they generally are referring to the tourists that visit their country and talk in really loud, annoying voices and expect everything to be like it is in the US. If it isn´t, they say, "Well back in the States it´s like this" or "In the US it´s better because" and that ticks a lot of people off.

Of the 40+ countries I have been to. The rudest by far was Saudi Arabia. The Least rude were Thailand, Japan and Great Britain. The US as a whole is somewhere in the middle. Oddly, contrary to my expectations the People in France seemed very polite.

Of course there is rude people in the UK, but by the fact he said 'rude American' it would suggest he was talking about a specific person, not generalising a country.

Yes there are rude people of all nationalities, just a lot more americans. Maybe even taking it a step further - insensitive (ie: thinking they have the best way of living and everyone wants or should want to be like them)

No, that's no longer a impolite question. i'm an American and a prevalent worldwide vacationer, and this question comes up somewhat often. i do no longer discover it impertinent interior the least and that i'm constantly happy to respond to. make constructive the intonation of your voice shows activity or interest fairly than hostility, although. i will work out how the question could seem impolite or threatening, reckoning on the speech transport.

Of course there are rude people everywhere. However, just like the dominant religions attempt to force their beliefs on others, the dominant culture attempts to force its beliefs on others. That is not very appealing to people outside the dominant culture. Americans seem to be particularly insensitive to that.

I am rude at times because I have been fed up with seeing my flag burned, hearing death threats against me and my family, hearing Americans decry our own country and spew out such hatred toward us that it has affected me deeply.

It seems their is an entire generation that hates Bush so much they their hatred has spilled over to the country itself. I get very rude to people like that.
