Find rate first: R = distance / time = 1.1 mile / 10.4 minutes (24 / 60 = .4 minutes)

R = .106 miles per minute

Now, solve for time: t = distance / Rate = 0.8 mile / .106 mile / min

t = 7.56 minutes = 7 minutes 33.6 seconds

7:34

10:24 = 624 seconds

624/1.1 = 567.3

567.3 * 0.8 = 453.82 seconds = 7 minutes 34 seconds

Of course, that's if you kept the exact same pace the whole way. If you got tired and slowed down towards the end (which I would imagine someone who ran a mile in more that 9 minutes would have done), you would be able to run 8/10 of a mile a little faster than that.

probably around 7:15
