I have the Mirena. I have only had it for 2 months. So far the only issue I had was allot of spotting the first month. This month hasn't been as bad. I had no pain getting it put in.

Good luck!

I personally have not had this, but my mother has for many years now. the side effects she experienced was increased menstrual flow and pain during ovulation and eventually after using this method for about fifteen years now it has caused an enlargement of the uterus walls again leading to a heavier period and increased abdominal pain. it pretty much seems to have the same side effects on many people who have used it, it just depends on your body and how heavy your monthly flow normally is. hope this helps, good luck deciding.

My daughter is going in a few minutes to get one. I'll come back after wards and let you know what she says.

She just came back after having one called Mirena inserted. She said she didn't even it feel it (she's one to cry about ANY little bump or bruise she gets). She was also told that her periods would be lighter than usual. It lasts for five years and if she still doesn't want to conceive she can replace it then. After having it removed, it may take up to a year to conceive. Hope this helps.

I had one and the only side effect I had was an increased monthly flow. That, and I was constantly worried about tubal pregnancies. Other than that it was a pretty much worry free method of contraception.
